Crocheting Molly Weasley's sleeves...
The sleeves on this outfit worn by Molly Weasley in the movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets have been the topic of a few crochet forum discussions. I've decided to give it a try and see if I could use up a good portion of my leftover yarns. I'll be using one of the patterns offered for sale online and I'll post all the details if it goes well. I might have to do a bit of altering of the size to get a good fit so I'm not sure how it's going to turn out.Since Halloween is at least 5 months away, that is plenty of time to play around with the pattern if needed.
Here's someone else's version of the sleeves.

My ideas are more along the line of using her clothing for inspiration, rather than a precise copy.
I love the sleeves, but why did the designer put them on a lightweight cloth bodice? They would go well on a lightweight long sleeved sweater.
During the middle ages, when they wore something with big sleeves like that, it was usually a dress (called a surcote) over another dress (called a cote) that had fitted sleeves.
So a sweater with long sleeves with the big sleeves sewn at the top of the sleeve would have the flavor, but not be a direct copy.
Also, around that time, they wore dropped shoulders, which would make it easy to add the extra aleeve because you wouldn't need the armscye shaping.
This would be fun to wear! Ilm going to start thinking about making it.
