Superfancy Potholder Loop Rug
This pic does not quite capture the true supersponginess of this Superfancy Potholder Loop Rug from the Mason-Dixon Knitting book. It is so nice and cushiony to stand on. It is machine washable cotton jersey and it certainly appears to be strong and longlasting. My first attempt (small pic) at random looping of colors came up too dark.
I've already started working on another rug for A with a lighter color sequence.
I think I can eliminate most of the color pooling by adding white loops between every single color. My loop color choices are limited to red, yellow, green, blue, white and a couple of black loops. I purchased 21 bags of 5 oz loops for $1.39 each at JoAnn (free shipping) and am able to make two approx. 22"x28" rugs. I bought a rug pad from Target for $2.99 so according to my math... One rug (11 bags + rug pad) is $19.79 including our 8.25% tax.
Using size 35 needles and this super chunky "yarn" is so fast that it takes almost no time at all to knit these rugs. It only takes a bit to get used to handling such huge needles and thick "yarn" but once you get used to it the project just flies along.

This is lovely! Great job! I love the way colors mix up!
Just a question though: is the rug slippery on the bottom, especially on tiles? If yes, did you add something to help it?
