Using a size L hook and Knit Picks Getaway (discontinued) in Denim, this was a quick crochet.

  • Chuck's Birthday

Last Saturday, Sept. 13th would have been Chuck's 59th Birthday.  He is deeply missed and loved.

Here are more shawls that I made because that is what I do. :)

  • The Heat Is On.

We are having a heatwave and it's hard to concentrate but I knit/crochet on.  Here are another Just Knit It and Angel Wings Shawls.  I'm still working through the stash and that's why there are going to be lots of two or more color shawls and stripes.   Everytime  I think I'm making a dent in the stash I get a new yarn donation from the shawl group.  I love the constant inspiration that the yarns provide.

There is much to share...Widowed 3½ years now. Grief is my constant companion.  Depressed, no...discouraged, yes. I dipped into the online dating pool and it wasn't refreshing.

Back to my regular knit, crochet and craft routine.  These hobbies are what keeps me sane.

Life got in the way.  I was in a very minor car accident at the end of April.  The other driver was 100% at fault.  Nevertheless, it prompted me to make more life changes.  I didn’t want to post anything in case the insurance companies were monitoring.

Anyway, the end of the school year has come upon us.  My middle child was home for 2 weeks and helped me sell more things on Craigslist.  We have almost cleared out the garage since the 3½ years since my husband died.

Along with the contents of the garage we sold the 1977 Corvette.  We were the original owners and it was another loss that took me a short time to grieve.  Yes, it’s just material things but it is just another one of those life endings that had both of our names on it.

His paper trail existence is slowly fading forever.  There is just one more big thing with his name attached…the house.

Prayerfully, I’m hoping that our three children will marry and have sons to carry on the last name and genes.  His side of the family is very small and there are only four males left including our two sons.

  • So Much of Life to Live.

    Popcornopolis 4-2014

Yes, I celebrated another birthday!  My youngest brother's family sent me this huge tin of Popcornopolis popcorn.  I just barely finished the Popcornopolis cones that I received from the office Christmas party.  Yum, yum, yummy Zebra mix, peanut butter mix and kettle corn.  So much goodness all at once.  I am so spoiled.

    Star Trek bag Sketchers bag

I was feeling the sewing buzz and revamped this Skechers bag into a Star Trek bag.  When you purchase Skechers shoes they give you these cool nylon bags instead of plastic shopping bags.  It's the perfect size for my knitting/crochet and it's so now.  Browsing through JoAnn Fabrics, I spotted this Star Trek fabric and could not pass without buying it.

I simply made a slip cover and attached it over the original Skechers bag which is now the lining of my new Star Trek bag. Love, love, love...

New Look 6999 pocket New Look 6888

Since I was already on a roll with the sewing I quickly cut out and put together this sundress. New Look pattern 6888   This is the second time I used this pattern and I love the carefree nature of the style, although it is basically a muumuu or house dress.  This time I added contrasting pockets and because of the bold flower print, I had to add a smaller breast pocket to cover up a potentially embarrassing flower right over my boob.

Have Faith Shawl Have Faith Shawl - back

To sum up my burst of creativity, I crocheted this Shawl which has an inspiring name...Have Faith.

Nothing fancy here, I used one skein of Red Heart Soft Navy for one and held Pink and Soft White together for the other triangle shawl.

    Simple pattern and quick.

  • Be A Friend/Have a Heart Shawl

    Be a Friend Shawl 2 - back Be a Frined Shawl 2

This pattern has two names and can be found for free on RedHeart.com.  I slightly modified the pattern by just making the first complete tier and crocheted until the yarn was finished.
